The big seed paper questions
Does seed paper really work?
Our business would be scuppered if it didn’t! Yes, seed paper really works. As soon as the paper is planted in soil and gets a bit of moisture, the seeds start to germinate and the paper starts to compost.
The process we use to print on our SeedPrint paper is designed to give the seeds as much care as possible and as much chance of good germination, unlike other techniques which can overheat or squash the seeds.
If you plant within the desired period and make sure your soil gets plenty of sunshine and water, you’re golden. If it doesn’t work, we’re not ones to point fingers, but it’s not us, it’s you.
How long does seed paper last?
We recommend planting your SeedPrint paper within two years of printing. After that, it should still sprout some wildflowers for you, but germination rates decline from then on, so chop-chop.
If you are keeping the paper to plant at a later date, make sure you store it somewhere cool, dry and away from direct sunlight to preserve the seeds as best as possible.
What types of seeds are used in my paper?
We use non-GMO UK wildflower seeds, free from pesticides, to keep them as safe for the environment as possible.
The types of flower seeds vary but include types known to increase biodiversity, such as daisies, field poppies and forget-me-nots. Why is that important? It helps bees, butterflies and other pollinators to find much-needed food and habitats.

When is the best time to plant my seed paper?
Spring is an ideal time for planting, as those delicate seeds can dodge the frost and enjoy some sunshine to help the germination and growing time.
The seeds we use grow UK wildflowers, so it’s also best to wait until the bees and bugs come out of hibernation. Yes, clever clogs, we know honeybees don’t technically hibernate, but their long winter snuggle isn’t dissimilar.
How long does seed paper take to grow?
Once planted and watered, you should see wildflowers sprouting within two–to–three weeks, assuming you’ve done all the right TLC.Â

How is seed paper made?
We source our own seeds, so we know that they’re the highest quality, safe for planting, and tick all the non-GMO, pesticide-free boxes.
We do have the printing know-how, but not so much when it comes to the paper-making bit. So, we roped in one of the oldest paper mills in the UK.
Their expertise in crafting high-quality paper, combined with our passion for creating compostable, recycled seeded varieties, has been integral to the SeedPrint journey. So much so that we have an exclusivity deal with them for all future seeds.
What makes it safe to plant?
Everything, from the types of non-GMO seeds we use to the compostable recycled paper. The very nature of paper is that it started as a tree, so it has naturally biodegradable qualities.
Our inks are water-based and non-toxic, meaning they’re as safe for use and clean-up as they are for planting. The brief for our paper is only good stuff that can do good things for the environment.
The best bit about our paper?
It grows. It grows flowers.
It grows brand impact.
It grows customer bases.
It grows. It grows flowers. It grows brand impact. It grows customer bases.
It’s a touchpoint dream. No, seriously. Touch it. In fact, flick it. Oooh, quality.
