We want your print to look its best, so feel free to send us any burning artwork questions prior to ordering: sales@seedprint.co.uk

But let us preempt some of the bits you might like to know and print like a pro:

Let's cover the file basics

Download one of our example templates:

What files do we work with?
PDF, JPEG and TIFF.

CMYK for print. RGB for screen.
Everything we print is in CMYK – in fact, everything everyone prints is CMYK.

RGB has a broader range of colours, and on top of that, is used on a backlit screen, making the colours really zing. It’s important to know, because CMYK colours can sometimes be more muted.

So before you save your file, make sure you’ve converted it to CMYK so you have a truer indication of what it will look like when printed.

The right printing marks

What files do we work with?
PDF, JPEG and TIFF.

What are ‘Trim Marks’?
Trim marks/lines show where the product is cut down to size and refer to the end of the paper or the finished size of a product.

What should I know about the bleed?
Bleed is an area of print outside the document where your colour or design needs to continue from your artwork. This gets chopped off when we trim your print to size, but it guarantees no unprinted edges in the final product.

The bleed area is usually 3mm as a minimum.

What is safe area?
This is a snuggly, safe area inside the trim. It’s smaller than your final ad size, where you should place your most important elements within your design to ensure they’re not cut off.

Some extra special pointers

What’s the maximum ink coverage?
Our paper is no ordinary material. We recommend an ink coverage of 30 – 40% so as not to hinder your seeds, if growing wildflowers is your highest priority,

Of course, any coverage is possible. However, some of the seeds may not grow as expected.

Names, names and more names!
If you have varying data you’d like to use in your artwork, such as names for personalised event lanyards, please supply it in a CSV file. You will find this option under Personalisation on any relevant products.

Please give us a tinkle if you are unsure of anything to do with this process.

Can I get a sneak preview?
In the ‘biz’ we like to call it proofing, and we’ll always send you a proof copy before we print.
